Rapid Remote Medical Capacity Building

Overview

International SOS was given the challenging task of bringing two facilities in Papua New Guinea up to Australian standards, in just six weeks. 


Problem

AFP relied upon our medical consultancy expertise to establish GAP analysis. Key requirements were to integrate with host nation providers, and facilitate improvement in local capabilities and medical standards, e.g., infection control. 


Solution

Under terms of a rapid employment, International SOS brought in equipment, provided training, and completed safety checks to ensure that the Port Moresby and Lae clinics were up to Australian standards.


Impact

As a result of integration with host nation providers and demonstrated excellence up to Australian standards, host nation engaged with us in capacity to improve native and organic medical services. ISOS CMO as member of PNG Health Professional Board and was able to use this case study at the highest levels of PNG government to encourage change nationally in their medical capabilities and standards.
