International SOS and AOKpass Win Most Transformational Collaboration at the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce Awards 2021

22 October 2021 ,  Singapore

The ground-breaking collaboration between International SOS and AOKpass to develop a global digital health pass solution has been awarded “Most Transformational Collaboration” at the annual Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) Awards 2021. AOKpass is a privacy-preserving, secure and interoperable system for issuing and verifying a user’s health status anywhere in the world which was jointly developed by International SOS, the world’s largest health and security services firm, and AOKpass, a Singapore-based start-up.

The SICC Awards was established in 2015 to recognise, celebrate and learn from the Singapore’s champions of collaborative innovation. Over 200 guests attended the sixth edition of the awards physically and virtually, which was held on 19 October 2021.

Since February 2020, AOKpass and the International SOS group of companies, including Medaire (Aviation & Maritime division), have collaborated closely to develop the AOKpass mobile application for deployment across airports, airlines, employers, and live events worldwide to support a safer and more efficient return to travel, work, and play. In September 2020, AOKpass launched the world’s first deployment of a digital health pass system to facilitate the safe and efficient resumption of international travel following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, AOKpass may be used at 140 airports and many major airlines across the world to securely verify travellers’ COVID-19 test results while retaining the privacy of their personal health data. Looking ahead, the two companies are working to empower organisations with a safe and sustainable return to the workplace with secure issuance and verification of the health status of employees through a single platform.

Ms Juliana Gim, Managing Director for International SOS in Singapore, said:
“As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw the need for a secure, private, and reliable means of verifying an individual’s health status, that paves the way for the future of work and travel. We also recognised the challenges and complexities of developing a platform on this scale, especially with the need for multilateral cooperation to truly enable wide-spread adoption. Throughout these challenges, we are privileged to have partnered with AOKpass to realise our vision for a holistic digital health solution that can be readily implemented anywhere, and which helps sovereign countries and organisations to take steps towards meeting their Sustainability Development Goals like “Good Health and Wellbeing”. The recognition from the SICC Awards is testament to the monumental effort that the teams have put in to making this project a success.”

Mr Darren Toh, Chief Executive Officer at AOKpass, said:
“Embarking on this journey with International SOS has been incredibly fulfilling, as we continue to build a holistic enterprise solution for corporates, governments, airports, airlines, event organisers, and organisations to enable a safe and secure return to work, travel, and play. Throughout this partnership, we have unearthed new pathways to overcome operational and regulatory hurdles with a firm determination to communicate, collaborate, adapt and innovate. We will continue to unlock new use-cases for AOKpass for businesses across all sectors. With our pioneering blockchain-enabled technology and development capability, we have already developed the most operationally advanced global health pass solution for any and all use cases.”
